BMP files come from Paint, older scanners, industrial and medical equipment, and screenshots on older Windows systems. They are uncompressed, so a single page can be tens of megabytes. Converting to PDF here keeps every pixel and compresses the image data losslessly, which usually makes the file far smaller.
To convert BMP to PDF, add the .bmp images to an image-to-PDF converter and download the PDF. On ihatepdf each bitmap is decoded in your browser and stored losslessly with compression, so the PDF looks identical and is usually much smaller than the original BMP. Combine several into one PDF and choose the page size. Nothing is uploaded.
A BMP normally stores every pixel as three bytes with no compression, so an A4 scan at 300 DPI is about 26MB. PDF can hold the same pixels with lossless compression, which for documents and screenshots is often a tenth of that or less.
Drop the .bmp files on this page, put them in order, and press Convert to PDF. Free and nothing is uploaded.
